The International Conference on Chemical Management (ICCM) agreed to take forward work on eight emerging policy issues and other issues of concern. The IOMC organizations agreed to respond positively to the ICCM2 resolution II/4 and resolution II/5, depending on their areas of expertise.

The SAICM emerging policy issues and other issues of concern are:

• Lead in paint
  
• Chemicals in products
  
• Hazardous substances within the life cycle of electrical and electronic products (“E-waste”)
  
• Nanotechnologies and manufactured nanomaterials
  
• Managing perfluorinated chemicals and the transition to safer alternatives
• Endocrine-Disrupting Chemicals (EDCs)
  
• Highly Hazardous Pesticides (HHPs)
  
• Environmentally persistent pharmaceutical pollutants

IOMC was a co-convenor, together with UNEP and IFCS, of the first International Conference on Chemical Safety (ICCM) held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, in 2006 that finalized and endorsed the Strategic Approach to International Chemicals Management (SAICM).

During the first ICCM in February 2006, the nine Executive Heads of agencies cooperating in the IOMC issued a Joint Statement about their participation in the implementation of the SAICM.
