As stated in resolution II/4, Part E, this project aims to:
ICCM2 invited relevant IOMC organizations, including the OECD, and the International Organization for Standardization, to engage in dialogue with stakeholders with a view to gaining further understanding of nanotechnologies and manufactured nanomaterials.
OECD and UNITAR agreed to respond to the ICCM2 invitation and are working together to provide assistance to non-OECD countries to enhance their capacity for dealing with safety issues presented by nanomaterials. A series of workshops will be held in association with SAICM regional meetings in 2010 to inform developing countries and those with economies in transition about the potential applications and risks of these new technologies and materials. The two organisations are also considering other awareness raising activities, such as capacity assessment and action plan development.
