On the afternoon of 8 November 2017 at FAO headquarters in Rome, the Bureau of ICCM5 and the IOMC met for the first time in an informal joint session. The objective of the meeting was to facilitate an exchange of views between the ICCM5 Bureau and the IOMC in the context of SAICM and the sound management of chemicals and waste beyond 2020 (the Bureau of the International Conference on Chemicals Management, ICCM, advises the President and the secretariat on the conduct of the business of the Conference and its subsidiary bodies).
Representatives of IOMC organizations and Bureau members discussed, among other things, an overview of the mandate and operation of the IOMC and its individual organizations, the importance of multi-sector and multi-stakeholder engagement, and preparations for the 2nd meeting of the Inter-sessional process and regional meetings.
