IOMC Mercury Group

The participating organizations of the Mercury Group of the Inter-Organization Programme for the Sound Management of Chemicals (IOMC) are ILO, UNDP, UNEP, UNIDO, UNITAR, WHO, World Bank, and the OECD, and the group involves the Secretariats of the Minamata Convention and the Global Environment Facility. Activities are intended to support the ratification and implementation of the Convention and involve close cooperation and coordination among these organizations in implementing a broad range of activities, including:

  • Minamata Convention Initial Assessments (MIAs), funded by the Global Environment Facility;
  • support for developing National Action Plans on Artisanal and Small-scale Gold Mining (ASGM) - more details on the assistance provided for ASGM can be found in the brochure (link below);
  • development of guidance, hosting regional workshops, etc.
