The IOMC began convening “Inter-agency Meetings on Sound Chemicals Management” in 2016 to provide an opportunity for direct dialogue between interested agencies and organisations and consider collaboration on the way forward towards the 2020 goal and beyond, in the context of the SDGs and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. All members of the UN EMG are invited to participate, with a focus on those organizations active in the area of sound chemicals and waste management, engaged in related issues in the context of the SDGs, or interested in further collaboration in this area. The 1^st Inter-agency meeting (IAM) supported meeting in the same format, around one time per year, for purposes of coordination, sharing information, and obtaining feedback on new activities. Deliberations at the 4^th IAM supported more focused discussions around selected themes or topics.
